Costessey Infant educates children between the ages of rising 5 and 7 years old. It transferred to Academy status in September 2013. The school was opened in 1929 and has been extended and modernised over the years to provide facilities that are appropriate to the current curriculum and the needs of the school community. We have spacious classrooms, a school library, an ICT suite, a cookery area and a group room which is used for parent drop ins, intervention groups and meetings. Our large hall offers an excellent space for Physical Education, assemblies, school productions and doubles as a spacious dining hall.
An Outreach SureStart Children’s Centre Room and a local preschool group (Costessey Preschool) are situated on the school site. Costessey Preschool also provide a Breakfast Club and Afterschool Club on our site.
We have excellent outdoor space. There is a large field with a willow longboat, a sheltered area under a canopy, a Wildlife garden and a vegetable garden. Additionally there is a separate play area for Reception children with purpose built climbing apparatus, sand trays and a bike track with a large variety of ride on toys. The main playground has games painted on the surface to encourage imaginative play.
Our most recent Ofsted inspection took place in June 2016 and demonstrates that we are a good school.
